As stated by the Federal Reserve, appraisal reviews "should verify whether the appraisal or evaluation is appropriate for the transaction, the liability of the transaction, and whether the processes by which the collateral valuation is collected ensures independence and quality." They "must also signify whether the appraisal or evaluation report is even with the letter of engagement, which sets forth the range of the appraisal assignment." Lastly, the Federal Reserve notes that "some banks supplement typical reviews with post-funding evaluations of appraisal quality for some of their high-risk or higher-value dealings as a means to help in revealing valuation issues."
